Heavy Equipment Mechanic

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic position performs major repairs, routine inspections & maintenance, as well as annual inspections on our growing fleet of CAT heavy equipment including but not limited to excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, front loaders, skid steers, and concrete saws, pick-up trucks, trailers, and semi-trucks. The mechanic is also responsible for preparing/maintaining inspection and maintenance records on each piece of equipment.

Job Duties:
- Diagnosing and conducting both major and routine repairs on heavy equipment, class 8, and small truck fleet as needed.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance, as well as annual inspections on all equipment, trucks, and trailers.
- Ordering parts/supplies from vendors as needed.
- Properly maintain/prepare inspection and maintenance records on all pieces of equipment.
- Requires fieldwork repairs to be done as needed
- Most construction sites are within a 30 mile radius of our office location.
- Help maintain a clean and safe functioning shop.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical problems on earth moving equipment, semi & pick-up trucks, concrete saws, forklifts, air compressors, and generators.
- Have strong trouble shooting skills.
- Have ability to diagnose and repair problems using service manuals.
- Have experience using hand tools, power tools and pneumatic tools.
- Be able to read and interpret basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Factory training & Welding experience a plus
- CAT experience a plus
