Heavy Equipment Mechanic

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic position performs major repairs, routine inspections & maintenance, as well as annual inspections on our growing fleet of heavy equipment, pick-up trucks, trailers, and semi-trucks. The mechanic is also responsible for preparing/maintaining inspection and maintenance records on each piece of equipment.

Job Duties:

  • Diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment, class 8, and small truck fleet as needed.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance, as well as annual inspections on all equipment, trucks, and trailers.
  • Ordering parts/supplies from vendors as needed.
  • Properly maintain/prepare inspection and maintenance records on all pieces of equipment.
    • Requires fieldwork repairs to be done as needed, most construction sites are within a 30 mile radius of our office location.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe functioning shop.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical problems on earth moving equipment, semi & pick-up trucks, concrete saws, forklifts, air compressors, and generators.
  • Have strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Have ability to diagnose and repair problems using service manuals.
  • Have experience using hand tools, power tools and pneumatic tools.
  • Be able to read and interpret basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Factory training & Welding experience a plus
  • CAT experience a plus
